Summary


To provide the store's customers with the best service possible. To operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customers' purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging purchases for customers. To perform stocking and other duties as assigned to ensure that the work shift contributes to the financial best interests of the store.

Starting pay - Full Time Assistant Manager $9.50 

Essential Functions
  • Greets customers in a friendly manner as they enter the store. Provides fast and efficient service. Thanks the customer.
  • Operates cash register equipped with electronic scanning equipment to record prices, compile printed list, and display cost of purchases, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.
  • Helps customers to use electronic fund transfer machine, locate items within store, select specific items mentioned in sale and rebate offers.
  • Collects cash, food stamps, or checks from customers and makes change for cash transactions. Counts cash in drawer at beginning and end of shift.
  • Performs a daily shift change at the end of each shift.
  • Collects cash for all lottery and money order transactions.
  • Bags merchandise and redeems promotional coupons.
  • Stocks shelves and cooler. Rotates and front-faces stock to ensure freshness and quality of products and easy customer access. Removes damages and out-of-code merchandise from the shelves. Keep store looking neat and attractive.
  • Removes all stock from sales areas in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Reviews price sheet and assists with marking prices and markdowns on merchandise.
  • Follows merchandise layouts.
  • Complies with all federal and state regulations.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Reports any suspected shoplifting to store manager.
  • Make coffee and other food items.
  • Cleans all areas, using proper cleaning procedures and materials, including (but not limited to) counter tops, microwave, shelves, sweep and mop floors, windows, cooler doors, food service equipment, restrooms, and parking lot to maintain appealing appeara

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate preferred.
  • Basic language and mathematical skills.
  • Polite, friendly attitude to deal pleasantly with customers.
